Using Electronic Resources

Use this guide to learn how to access library resources online, including tools and troubleshooting tips

What's in this Guide

Whether you're an experienced library user or it's the first time you've tried accessing electronic library resources, let's face it, accessing this content can sometimes be messy and confusing.

We know that you look for and access DUL resources in many different ways. There isn't one right or wrong way to do this, and no single source exists that's going to have everything you need.

In this guide, we're going to share strategies, tips and best practices to help you access the information and resources you need quickly and easily.

Single Sign-On Technology

Shibboleth is an authentication system (or secure login system) that manages access to many Drexel Libraries resources through single sign-on (SSO) technology. It allows you to log in to the Libraries’ online resources via Drexel Connect using your Drexel username and password and works the same both on- and off-campus.

Shibboleth replaced EZProxy, our previous login method for most resources, in 2023; although some library resources will remain on EZProxy until they become Shibboleth compliant.

Through Shibboleth, you can now access library resources in a few different ways:

  • Directly through the Drexel Libraries website - just as you have in the past!
  • Directly through a publisher or vendor site

Jump to the next section of this guide (Remote Access & Login) for instructions for both methods of access.
