September 11-17: National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week 2023

The White House has issued a proclamation designating September 11-17 as National Hispanic-Serving Institution Week.

 

September 15: CALA/REFORMA Webinar: The Chinese Experiences in Latin America Presented by Laura De Moya-Guerra

Doctoral student Laura De Moya-Guerra will focus on research collections and archives of the Chinese diaspora in Latin America, especially in Colombia.

 

September 19: San Jose State Universe iSchool and REFORMA present Latinos: Contributing to the Fabric of the Nation

A keynote featuring how library services to Latinos support social cohesion and the contributions of Latinos to the fabric of the nation, highlighting the field of librarianship.

 

September 20: Latinos for a United Campus Scavenger Hunt

Get to meet members of LUC and incoming Latino students through a Scavenger Hunt! Work with a team to learn about Drexel's campus and answer Latino trivia questions to unlock hints.

 

September 24: Puerto Rican Day Parade: A Celebration of Latino Culture in the Heart of the City

A celebration of Latino culture in the heart of the city’s streets. Traditional Latino music, poetry, and dance make this vibrant festival a must-see event.

 

September 29: The 36th Annual Hispanic Heritage Awards

The historic Hispanic Heritage Awards is among the highest honors by Latinos for Latinos and supported by 40 national Hispanic-serving institutions. Be sure to check out the Hispanic Heritage Awards Archive [PBS] for more! 

 

October 4: Arturo Schomburg's legacy of care for Black history and culture: A discussion featuring Dr. Vanessa Valdes

Arturo Schomburg was a Puerto-Rican born Afro-Latino historian, writer, and collector who dedicated his life to caring for African history and culture.

 

October 4: Bachata Dance Series

Twist and turn to the rhythm of the music with ALPFA’s and LUC’s Bachata Dance Series!

 

October 5: Secrets and Tales with REFORMA National

REFORMA National, in collaboration with MiJa Books, will be hosting Maritete R. Bellas author of the bilingual children’s book, I have a secret/Tengo un secreto. 

 

October 5: SCDI's Hispanic Heritage Month Festival

Join the Drexel Student Center for Diversity and Inclusion (SCDI) for a festival celebrating Hispanic heritage at 3pm at the Rush Garden!

 

October 6: ¡Pintemos Juntos! - Cultural Paint & Sip

Join us for a night of painting and drinking classic Latino beverages! With aguas frescas to sip on, bring your friends to sit down and paint a picture that represents your culture!
