This resource guide is meant to highlight just a few of the different ways that the Drexel Libraries promotes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in our collections and programming. Check back throughout the year to find resources to celebrate and learn more about a diversity of cultures and heritage, identities, unique perspectives, and much more.

The Drexel University Libraries is committed to the value of inclusion. We strictly adhere to and enforce the University’s diversity policies and procedures, and all Libraries staff work to promote, support and sustain an environment of diversity, equality, fairness, inclusion, and respect.


Anti-Racism Statement

As part of the University's efforts to dismantle racism in policies and practices, the Drexel University Libraries engages in service and teaching that challenges oppressive and unjust forces. We also recognize that information sources may have inherent biases that reflect the primarily white, cis-male viewpoint that permeates American society and academia. The Libraries upholds Drexel University’s core values by curating diverse information sources and programming that creates an inclusive environment and prepares students to become purpose-driven agents of change as we focus our collective expertise on creating a more equitable society.


Accessibility in the Drexel Libraries

The Drexel University Libraries is committed to providing equal access to information to all students, faculty, staff, and members of the Drexel community. Whenever possible, the Libraries will select and acquire resources and technologies that are accessible to all in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. For those parts of the historical collections that are not accessible, the Libraries is committed to providing reasonable accommodations and timely access in appropriately reformatted media that are accessible to disabled Libraries users.

The Drexel University Libraries is a member of the ACRL Diversity Alliance, an organization that unites academic libraries that share a commitment to increase the hiring pipeline of qualified, talented individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups.


Institutional Affiliations & Memberships

The Drexel Libraries belongs to several American Library Association (ALA)-affiliated groups. These groups and their member institutions provide supportive communities for professional discussions and serve as advocates for the development, promotion and improvement of library services and resources for minority communities.

Heritage Month Resource Guides
