Welcome Back!

The Drexel University Libraries is now open for winter 2021. We will offer the following services to ensure access to physical materials:

  • Browse the stacks: The stacks in the W. W. Hagerty Library are now open. Clients may browse the Libraries’ physical collections and check out print materials as usual. Please bring all physical materials to the service desk for check out. If you touch any physical items, DO NOT re-shelve them or leave them on tables or in study rooms. Return all items to the blue shelves (2nd floor) or the library carts located on the first floor and the lower level.
  • Contactless pick-up: Drexel students, faculty and staff can request to pick up physical materials from the W. W. Hagerty Library.
  • Shipping physical materials: The Libraries will ship physical materials to a confirmed off-campus address (if within the U.S.) upon request made via the Libraries’ website. We cannot ship to on-campus addresses or outside the U.S. at this time.
  • Online delivery of digitized print materials: Staff will digitize articles and book chapters upon request.
  • Electronic Course Reserves: Libraries staff will work with faculty to find online alternatives to replace physical resources.

The information below will help guide you in requesting access to the Drexel Libraries' physical materials. Or visit our COVID-19 response page for the latest updates on our resources, services and facilities.

Access Physical Materials

Browse the Stacks

The stacks in the W. W. Hagerty Library reopened on January 18, 2020.

Request Digital Copies of Materials in our Physical Collection

Use DragonSearch to find available content owned and licensed by the Drexel Libraries.

If an item from our physical collection is only available in print, Libraries staff will digitize portions of the item, like journal articles and book chapters, upon request. We will send digitized materials to the confirmed email address within three business days.

Please submit your request for digitized material directly through ILLiad, our interlibrary loan system.

Course Reserves

Information for Teaching Faculty & Staff:

Electronic course reserves are available for winter 2021. Libraries staff will work with teaching faculty and staff to identify electronic alternatives to replace physical items on reserve for the winter term.

Please email reserves@drexel.edu to discuss your options.

Information for Students:

Online course reserves are available for winter 2020. Any materials placed on reserve are accessible via your Blackboard Learn course shell.

Request Delivery of Journals, Books & More

To request to have print materials within the Drexel Libraries' collection delivered to your current off-campus address, use the 'Request Item' option in the DragonSearch record and select 'Mail it to me' as the pick-up location.

The Libraries ships physical items from its collection to clients living in the United States. Please note that we can only ship physical items requested via ILLiad and E-ZBorrow to clients within the United States.

Once available, Libraries staff will mail materials to your confirmed off-campus address within 7 business days. All shipped materials will include a pre-paid return shipping label.

You may renew Drexel-owned books online. See more about our Borrowing Policies.

Return Physical Materials

Return Physical Items

If you received a physical item in the mail, you should have received a pre-paid return shipping label. Package the material in a small box or shipping envelope and use this shipping label to return the item to the Libraries. You may place the package in any UPS drop box, including the drop box located on the lower level of Queen Lane, to the right as you exit the elevators.

Clients may also return physical materials via the book drop bins at the W. W. Hagerty Library on the University City campus and the Hahnemann Library in Center City.

Loan Periods

We have extended all loan periods for current Drexel students, faculty and staff to March 29, 2021. Physical materials will not incur fines before that date. If you need to extend a loan period beyond this date, contact libassist@drexel.libanswers.com

For questions about returning materials via mail or if the link to your shipping label has expired, contact ill@drexel.edu.
